Tour Details
This longer Italia Classica journey keeps the familiar pleasures of Venice, Florence and Rome, then continues south into Campania for Pompeii, Sorrento and the approach to Naples. It is a strong choice when you want the essential cultural arc of Italy, but with a few extra days to feel the landscape change from northern canals and Tuscan hills to Roman streets and the volcanic coast.
The itinerary has a comfortable rhythm: guided touring for the major cultural moments, free time where it matters, and several meals that help the journey feel rooted in place. Venice introduces the group with cicchetti, Florence leads into a Tuscan dinner near Impruneta, Rome brings the Vatican and the historic centre, and Pompeii adds one of southern Italy’s most evocative archaeological experiences.
Sorrento gives the final days a softer close, with time for coastal views, optional excursions and the relaxed atmosphere of the Sorrentine Peninsula before the departure transfer to Naples airport.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Venice
Arrive in Venice and transfer from the airport to your hotel. Meet your tour guide and fellow travellers in the afternoon, then enjoy a spritz or prosecco with cicchetti before an evening at leisure.
Day 2 - Venice
Walk through Venice with your tour leader towards St Mark’s Square, passing bridges, calli, historic palaces and neighbourhood life along the way. Continue with a local guide around the city’s famous landmarks, then enjoy free time in the afternoon.
Day 3 - Venice, Bologna and Florence
Travel to Bologna for time around Piazza Malpighi, Piazza Maggiore, San Petronio Basilica, arcaded streets and local markets. Continue to Florence in the afternoon and settle into your hotel.
Day 4 - Florence
Explore Florence, including the Duomo, Brunelleschi’s Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Santa Croce. After time at leisure, enjoy a traditional dinner in Impruneta in the Chianti countryside.
Day 5 - Florence, San Gimignano and Rome
Depart Florence for Rome, stopping in San Gimignano for time among its medieval towers, UNESCO-listed historic centre and countryside views. Continue to Rome in the afternoon and enjoy the evening at leisure.
Day 6 - Rome and Vatican City
Walk towards Vatican City and join a skip-the-line guided visit to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Square. The afternoon is at leisure before dinner at a traditional Roman restaurant with live music.
Day 7 - Rome
Discover Rome on foot, including Castel Sant’Angelo, Ponte Sant’Angelo, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Piazza di Spagna. The afternoon is free, with optional sightseeing such as the Colosseum available locally.
Day 8 - Rome, Pompeii and Sorrento
Depart Rome by coach for Pompeii, crossing Lazio and Campania. Enjoy an included Neapolitan pizza lunch, then join a skip-the-line guided visit through the ruins of Pompeii before continuing along the Sorrentine Coast to Sorrento.
Day 9 - Sorrento
Spend the day at leisure in Sorrento or choose an optional excursion to Capri. Explore the historic centre, Piazza Tasso, viewpoints over the Bay of Naples or the local coast before dinner at the hotel.
Day 10 - Sorrento
Enjoy a free day to relax or explore Campania further. Optional excursions, such as the Amalfi Coast, may be available at additional cost. Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 11 - Sorrento and Naples
After breakfast, transfer to Naples airport for your onward flight.

Physical Requirements
This itinerary includes guided walking tours, museum visits, Pompeii’s uneven archaeological surfaces, cobbled streets and coach travel. Travellers should be comfortable walking for several hours and managing steps and historic paving.
Exclusions
- City tax is not included and is payable directly at hotels.
- Drinks are not included with meals in Sorrento.
- Optional excursions such as Capri, the Amalfi Coast and the Colosseum are not included unless confirmed in writing.
- Personal expenses and travel insurance are not included.
