Why we've chosen this tour

We like this tour because it gives the Veneto the time it deserves. Venice is balanced with lagoon islands, working producers, Prosecco Hills scenery, Palladian architecture and Verona, so the journey feels regional rather than city-only. The four-night Vicenza stay is especially useful, giving travellers a calmer base for Padova, villas and gardens.

Travel fit

Is this tour for you?

This tour suits travellers who want northern Italy with depth, good food and wine, and a relaxed small group rhythm. It is a strong fit for guests interested in art, architecture, gardens, historic towns, regional producers and an opera experience, with enough independence to enjoy unscheduled time in each base.

Tour Details

The Veneto is one of northern Italy’s most rewarding regions to slow down in. Venice may be the famous opening act, but the wider region brings vineyard hills, Palladian architecture, medieval towns, generous food traditions and the easy elegance of Verona and Lake Garda.

This 14-day small group tour is designed with time to settle into each chapter. You begin with Venice and the lagoon, continue into the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills, pause in Vicenza long enough to appreciate Palladio’s influence, then finish in Verona with lakeside scenery, Valpolicella hills and an evening at the opera.

The pleasure here is in the balance: guided visits where history needs a good storyteller, relaxed meals in local trattorias, tastings with working producers and free time to follow your own curiosity. It is Veneto with texture, not just a checklist of sights.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Days 1-4 - Exploring Venice And The Lagoon

Begin in Venice, where history, art and everyday life unfold along canals, bridges and quiet campi. Guided walks help you understand the city beyond the obvious landmarks, while free time leaves room for a slower wander through neighbourhoods, churches, galleries and local bacari.

One day is devoted to the Venetian Lagoon by private boat. Burano brings brightly coloured houses and a long lace-making tradition, while Torcello feels quieter and older, with an early church and a powerful sense of the lagoon world that shaped Venice.

Days 5-7 - The Prosecco Hills, Vines, Villages And Views

Leave Venice and travel north into the Prosecco Hills, a landscape of steep vineyards, small villages and winding country roads. The region is beautiful, but it is also practical: the terrain shapes the wines, the work and the daily rhythm of the people who live here.

Visit a small cheese producer in the hills above Valdobbiadene and taste products made with traditional methods. There is also time for towns such as Asolo and Marostica, where medieval walls, handsome piazzas and gentle hill scenery give this part of Veneto its quiet charm.

Days 8-11 - Vicenza, Padova And Country Villas

Settle into Vicenza, a refined and very liveable city shaped by Palladio’s architecture. With a local guide, explore highlights such as the Teatro Olimpico, then enjoy time for the city’s boutiques, cafes and elegant streets at your own pace.

From Vicenza, visit Padova and the Scrovegni Chapel, home to Giotto’s extraordinary early Renaissance frescoes. The journey also reaches Villa La Rotonda and the Valsanzibio Gardens, bringing architecture, landscape and Veneto country life into the same beautifully paced section.

Days 12-14 - Verona, Lakeside Towns, Rolling Hills And Aida

The final base is Verona, a city rich in Roman, medieval and Renaissance layers. A guided visit helps bring its piazzas, ancient landmarks and laneways into focus before time to enjoy the city independently.

From Verona, travel to Lazise on Lake Garda, then continue through the Valpolicella Hills, known for gentle landscapes and celebrated wines. Parco Sigurta adds a peaceful garden pause before the tour ends with an opera performance in the Arena di Verona, a fitting cultural finale to two weeks in the Veneto.

Tour Highlights

  • Three relaxed days in Venice with guided walking tours and time to explore independently
  • Private Venetian Lagoon boat excursion to Burano and Torcello
  • Opera performance in the Arena di Verona
  • Prosecco Hills visits with small working producers and tastings
  • Four-night stay in Vicenza for Palladian architecture and a calmer city rhythm
  • Historic towns including Asolo, Marostica and Lazise
  • Padova and the Scrovegni Chapel, with Giotto’s remarkable frescoes
  • Villa La Rotonda, Valsanzibio Gardens and Parco Sigurta
  • Shared meals showcasing Veneto cuisine and regional wines

Accommodation

Accommodation is planned across Venice, the Prosecco Hills, Vicenza and Verona, with final hotel names to be confirmed. The itinerary includes a four-night stay in Vicenza, allowing the city to feel like a real base rather than a quick stop.

Where possible, Italy Touring will favour well-located hotels that make the pacing easy: practical for guided touring, comfortable for downtime and close enough to enjoy each town or city outside scheduled sightseeing.
