Spiritual Tour from Rome

Tour Details

View of Rome

These tours are ideal for travellers who have limited time in a destination but still want to experience key highlights or for those who prefer to explore a specific aspect of a place, such as its culinary scene, historical landmarks, or natural beauty. Minitours offer a convenient way to enjoy a travel experience without the commitment of a longer itinerary. They are also popular as add-ons to longer trips, allowing travellers to customize their experience with specific interests in mind.

Please note this is not small group touring, it is a mix of independent travel and larger group travel with plenty of free time to do your own thing.

*** Please be aware that during the Jubilee Year, certain areas of the Vatican Museums may be inaccessible due to religious ceremonies. Additionally, entrance to St. Peter’s Basilica may also experience unannounced closures. These circumstances are beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding.

Board on a train from Rome Termini to Foggia, where you will meet your private car and driver, who will take you to your hotel in San Giovanni Rotondo, home of the Shrine of Padre Pio (opportunity to stop at Monte Sant’Angelo with a supplement). Settle in to your hotel to rest up for the day ahead.

After breakfast at your hotel, spend the day exploring this fascinating city on your own. From July 28, 1916 until his death on September 23, 1968, Padre Pio, famous for his stigmata, called San Giovanni Rotondo home. The miracle of his stigmata was recognized by the Pope after the approval of the three commissions canonically required. The Medical Consultations of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints examined the case, and with a unanimous vote judged it “scientifically inexplicable”.

Finally, the Pope officially recognized the miracle with the decree of December 21, 1998 and fixed the date for the Beatification for Sundays, May 2, 1999. Millions of people exulted with joy and participated in the ceremony at Saint Peter’s Square. On June 16, 2002, Padre Pio was declared a Saint.

His body was exhumed in March of 2009 and placed on display at the Santa Maria delle Grazie shrine, where it stayed until September 2009. After this intense day, return to your hotel for some well-earned relaxation.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your private car takes you back to the Foggia train station, where you will depart to Rome for the conclusion of your tour.
