DAY 1 GENOA • RAPALLO • PORTOFINO • SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE • GENOA PORT • OLBIA
Depart at 8:30 am from Starhotels President in Genoa. Depart for Rapallo, the famous tourist centre, which offers one of the most suggestive examples of architecture of the Liguria coast.
Afterwards, you will travel to Portofino. The picturesque, sophisticated seaside village with pastel houses lining the shore of the harbour, hosts luxury shops, restaurants and opulent hotels. The famous Piazzetta forms the heart of fashionable Portofino, and overlooks the harbour, populated by small fishing boats and luxurious yachts.
After Portofino, you will stop in Santa Margherita. This town offers something for everyone while still maintaining a small-town feeling. You can walk along the palm lined harbor, explore the marina, or unwind at the beach. This picturesque seaside town features cafés, restaurants, gelaterias (you have to try the gelato here), bars, and shops, that line the harbor and face the sea. Return to Genoa to have free time in the old town before boarding the ship to Sardinia, Olbia. Overnight in a first class interior cabin. Spend the night on the boat.
DAY 2 OLBIA • MADDALENA AND CAPRERA • PALAU
You will arrive in Olbia at 8:30am. You will head to the hotel in Palau to deposit your luggage before departing to the Islands, Maddalena and Caprera. You’ll find not only beaches and fun but also culture and history. Many cultural events depend on the presence of celebrities of the past, like Giuseppe Garibaldi, to which a museum is dedicated. Enjoy some free time for lunch. Return to Palau, and have the remainder of the day at your leisure. Spend overnight in your hotel in Palau.
DAY 3 PALAU • COSTA SMERALDA • PALAU
After breakfast in your hotel, you will enjoy an excursion along the Emerald Coast. The city of Arzachena forms part of this extremely beautiful and well-known area. Mediterranean Macchia is the main vegetation along the Mediterranean coast with wonderful beaches and stunning, clear water, including promontories and small islands. This incredible heritage was created in 1962 due to the initiative of the Prince Aga Khan V, who controlled an international financial organisation. You will have some free time to spend on one of the best beaches of the Island and free time for lunch. You will head back to Palau to spend overnight in your hotel.
DAY 4 PALAU • STINTINO • CAPO CACCIA • ALGHERO
After breakfast in your hotel, you will travel to Stintino, a village famous for its beautiful beaches in front of the Island Asinara. Later, travel to Capo Caccia, the Western tip of the wonderful Porto Conte Bay. The tour stops to allow you to take pictures of the most beautiful local bays with caves and small beaches. Here, you are invited to taste some of the traditional local food: cakes, biscuits, candies and cheese cake. You will have free time for lunch before your arrival in Alghero. Alghero is a popular tourist destination situated on a promontory and surrounded by large beaches. You can visit the city centre for the afternoon at your leisure. Spend overnight in your hotel in Alghero.
DAY 5 ALGHERO • CASTELSARDO • SANTA TERESA • OLBIA
Enjoy breakfast in your hotel before travelling to Castelsardo, a picturesque historic town, fortified with a castle. Its coast, its local manufacturing and its architecture, make it one of the most frequented places of the island for Summer holidays. Subsequently, you will travel to Santa Teresa, which offers interesting cultural attractions and is a big destination for thousands of tourists. As you wind your way along the rugged coast, you’ll admire the fantastic views of Corsica, and The Strait of Bonifacio (Bocche di Bonifacio), which divides the Tyrrhenian Sea from the Mediterranean Sea. Head south and enter the Valley of the Moon (Valle della Luna), an impressive granite environment of eroded rocks shaped in otherworldly forms. Visiting Valle della Luna is highly recommended at sunset. You can enjoy free time for lunch and have the opportunity to taste the mirto, the typical local liqueur made by myrtle.
