Enjoy 8 days exploring the highlights of Puglia – the culture, the stunning landscapes, amazing architecture, unique food and delicious wine.

Polignano a Mare • Castel del Monte • Trani • Polignano a Mare • Bari • Ostuni • Valle d’Itria • Alberobello • Lecce • Matera • Bari

This is a pocket-sized version of our longer Puglia tour, specially designed for travellers who are a little short on time but don’t want to miss out on the highlights of this beautiful area.  This trip gives our travellers a taste of both the rugged coastline, with its stark white limestone cliffs, brilliant aquamarine sea and quaint seaside villages, and the pretty inland towns of the region, with visits to the capital of the region Lecce and the World Heritage listed city of Matera.

The tour starts with three nights in Polignano a Mare with rooms overlooking the wonderful cliffs. From Polignano you will visit the towns of Bari and Trani, as well as the enigmatic Castel del Monte.

Our next base is in the  Valle d’Itria, famous for the distinctive stone trulli dwellings. You will visit Alberobello, the town with the largest concentration of these conical constructions as well as the pretty towns of Locorotondo and Martina Franca.

Throughout the tour, you will get the chance to meet local artisans and farmers with private visits to an ancient olive oil estate and one of the top wineries in Puglia for a special degustation and lunch.

Our small group tour has a maximum of 12 guests and a minimum of just 4!

We visit another UNESCO World Heritage site today: the ancient city of Matera – and also the location for Mel Gibson’s film ‘The Passion’! Matera is internationally famous for its ancient town, known as the Sassi, which translates as ‘stones’. The sassi began life as a prehistoric troglodyte settlement mined into the rocky face of a ravine but over the centuries many groups of people lived in these cavernous dwellings. The inhabitants were forcibly removed in the 1950s but today much of the area has been regenerated and there are small business, hotels and bars there. A local tour guide will show us the principal sights.
We return to the Masseria in the evening for our farewell dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast and Dinner Included

On the last day of the tour we provide a transfer back to Bari for your departure by air or train. The transfer arrives at Bari Airport by 10am.
