DAY 1 ROME • MATERA
Depart from your hotel in Rome and take the freeway to Matera, you will have some breaks on the way. Matera is known as the “City of the Sassi” and is famous for the historic Sassi districts. Matera, one of the world’s oldest cities, is also a World Heritage Site, recognised by UNESCO in 1993. Spend overnight in your hotel in Matera.
DAY 2 MATERA • CIVITA • PIZZO • REGGIO CALABRIA
Enjoy breakfast in your hotel, prior to transferring to Civita to visit of the “village among the rocks”. This fascinating village of Medieval origin is guardian of the culture and traditions of the Albanian community (Arbëreshë) in Italy. Continue on to Pizzo, which is the center of the famous “Costa degli Dei” and is renowned for being the “city of ice cream”. You will have time to visit the village and to indulge in the unmissable “Tartufo di Pizzo”, the local ice cream. Afterwards, you will continue to Reggio Calabria to visit the famous Lungomare Falcomatà, known as “the most beautiful kilometer in Italy”. Enjoy a night in your hotel.
DAY 3 REGGIO CALABRIA • TROPEA • LA CASTELLA • COSENZA
After breakfast in your hotel, you will take a transfer to Tropea. This is a famous tourist center with its picturesque alleys and terraces, more than fifty meters high above the crystalline sea. Transfer to Le Castella, a seaside village known mainly for its Aragonese fortress and its sandy beaches with Greek-Roman archaeological remains still visible. After the visit, you will travel to Cosenza. Check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 4 COSENZA • PRAIA A MARE • PAOLA • COSENZA
Enjoy breakfast in your hotel, prior to departing for Praia a Mare. Here you will board your own private boat for an excursion off the coast where you can admire the Arcomagno, the majestic rock arch that holds a dream bay. You will also visit Dino Island, the largest of the Calabrian islands on the Tyrrhenian Sea, with its splendid caves full of stalagmites.
Afterwards you will transfer to Diamante with some free time to visit the village. Diamanté is famous for the murals that adorn the historic center. Enjoy free time for lunch on your own. Continue to Paola, an important center along the coast. You will visit the Sanctuary of San Francesco da Paola, which dates back the 16th century and guards the relics of the patron saint of Calabria on a hill surrounded by vegetation. Finally, return to Cosenza for an overnight stay in your hotel.
DAY 5 COSENZA • SALERNO • ROME
After breakfast, you will travel to the city of Salerno to it’s historic centre. Salerno is an interesting City born from the ancient Roman “Salernum”, whose origin dates back to the end of the 2nd century b. C. Enjoy lunch at your leisure. At the end continuation towards Rome. End of services.
